By me on: http://thegluefactory.com/forums/showthread.php?p=83488#post83488 on: 2008/12/3 14:54 I got the music working in Windows Vista!! Jay!!! How? Well, open the second CD of NOLF, go to the folder DirectX7 and open the Cabinet file directx.cab. In this cabinet are some file for DirectMusic in DX7. We are going to copy those in the main folder of NOLF. So extract/copy the following file from the cabinet to the folder of NOLF (UPDATE: Only one file is needed!): DMSYNTH.DLL Now that that file is there, we need to tell Windows to use that file instead of the default one in \SYSTEM32. To do this we are going to make a small file for this purpose. First we are going to disable an option of Windows Explorer. Open the Start Menu and click on "Computer". Click in the toolbar on the left on "Organize" from Windows Explorer and select the option "Folder and search options". Click in the new window on the tab "View". In the list disable the option "Hide extensions for known file types" and click on OK. This will disable the hiding of the extensions of files like .EXE, .DOC .TXT etc. Now go to the NOLF folder and right click somewhere in the folder to open a contextual menu. Choose "New", and click on "Text file". Remove the current name of the file and change it to: lithtech.exe.local After that run NOLF and tada! Music in it fullest glory!! I did found this trick a year ago, but forgot it..... (and didn't wrote it down somewhere on the net..oops) UPDATE II: It is also possible to use the file included in the redistributable of DirectX 9.0c. With this version LTDMTest will also work!
